1. MACARONI WITH BACON OR CHICKEN
One of the most recurrent options for those days of ’empty fridge’ is pasta. We all have a packet of macaroni or spaghetti stored in the pantry. Pasta is very versatile, you can combine it with almost everything.
Ingredients:
-100 g. macaroni or some other type of pasta
-70 g. of bacon or chicken (as you prefer)
-1/2 onion
-50 g. of fried tomato
-Salt
-Olive oil
Preparation:
Boil water with a bit of salt and oil and cook macaroni according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
While they are boiling, start preparing the sauce and meat. Peel and chop the onion and brown it in a Castey frying pan for 10 minutes. Be careful, don’t forget adding salt and pepper.
Cut the bacon or chicken into small pieces and add them to the frying pan where the onion is being poached. You can also buy it already cut and packed, it will last longer. Sauté for a couple of minutes and then add the fried tomato. Mix everything until tomato and meat are unified. Then mix your sauce with the pasta. Don’t worry if you don’t have tomato. You can remove it from the recipe. Bacon and onion are enough to make this meal taste good.
If you want to cook au gratin you just need to add some cheese and place your frying pan with removable handle in the oven for some minutes to get that final crispy taste.
2. MASHED POTATOES
Another good option when we don’t have many ingredients is preparing a good side of mashed potatoes. You can use it to accompany any piece of meat or fish you have in the freezer.

-4 tablespoons of milk
-1 teaspoon salt
-1 pinch of pepper
Preparation:
Peel the potatoes, cut them into small pieces and boil them in a casserole for 25 minutes. When they are soft, remove them from the casserole and mash them.
Melt the butter in a saucepan, add the milk and mix well. Then add the mashed potatoes, salt and pepper and stir well to unify everything. That’s all the recipe ¡Enjoy your meal!
